WP-STATELESS / GUIDES

Upgrade with confidence.

Protect existing media and verify the behavior your site relies on before rolling out a new version.

Before you update

  1. Read the release notes for your current and target versions.
  2. Back up the WordPress database and deployment configuration. Protect any service-account key as a secret.
  3. Record the current bucket, mode, custom media domain, and relevant configuration constants.
  4. Test the update on staging with your active integrations.

After you update

  1. Open Stateless Settings and check the saved configuration.
  2. If WordPress asks for WP-Stateless data optimization, take a database backup before starting it and monitor the Status tab.
  3. Upload one image. Check the original, generated sizes, and a logged-out page.
  4. Confirm existing media still resolves before running a large synchronization.

An update does not mean you need to recreate the bucket or reconnect a working site. Keep existing credentials unless the plugin or your administrator requires a change.

If something changes unexpectedly

Pause bulk operations. Record the exact error and compare configuration with your backup. Avoid switching modes or deleting cloud objects as a first troubleshooting step.
